The far-reaching changes in the world of work have not spared the role of the designer. The sheer variety of titles used for visual designers alone illustrates the breadth of possibilities: alongside the somewhat outdated term ‘graphic designer’, there are now, for example, communication designers, screen designers, and digital and creative designers. What they all have in common is that they require very little space to carry out their work – the days of large studios or vast workshops are over.
“We are seeing a very significant increase in demand for our services at the COLLECTION Business Centres from the creative professions,” explains Dr André Helf, CEO of the COLLECTION Group. “Digital media now offer almost limitless design possibilities across many fields of application, such as editorial, branding, and even corporate and industrial design. Employees tinker, experiment and refine their designs. To do this, they need dual working environments: on the one hand, peace and quiet. We offer this with our offices, which can be rented with flexible space sizes and time options. You simply close the door and won’t be disturbed. But on the other hand, we naturally also have our meeting rooms for brainstorming sessions in each of our COLLECTION Business Centres – where ideas can be exchanged in a group whenever necessary, and you only pay for these rooms for as long as you actually need them.”
Also important: the five-star atmosphere of the COLLECTION Business Centres. Creativity needs inspiration – that’s the basic idea. Dr Helf: “When it came to the fit-out, we placed great emphasis on ensuring that our clients feel at home in our spaces and enjoy their work – and, alongside an attractive aesthetic, this naturally includes functionality. We take the pressure off our clients and ensure that everything runs smoothly – from the telephone system to cleaning, from the ongoing modernisation of all equipment to replacing a burnt-out light bulb. Our tenants should have their minds free so that they can carry out their work undisturbed and as efficiently as possible.”
Another key factor for success in the creative industry is the cross-media applicability of designed products – and thus the proximity to other interfaces. “We know that clients from the design world value the ability to exchange ideas quickly on concepts and user guidance with, for example, TV studios, advertising agencies or traditional media,” explains Dr Helf, “which is why our centrally located and easily accessible COLLECTION Business Centres in Düsseldorf, Hamburg, Stuttgart and Vienna are ideally suited to the short distances that are often so important in this sector.”
